Braided Rugs
Nothing quite says American home like a braided rug.

The familiar multi-colored oval rugs have been around since the 1700s, and were originally created by American colonists who traded and stitched scraps of wool which were then braided into long strips and hooked together.

Today, braided rugs have lost none of their popularity. They are decorative, long-lasting and add both warmth and color to any room.

Braided rugs come in many sizes and in all price ranges, from under $50 to several hundred dollars. At the upper end of the scale are pure wool rugs made by legendary manufacturers such as Capel.

For the budget-conscious shopper, though, there is a wide variety of braided rugs available in acrylic, nylon and olefin fibres, or in varying degrees of wool blends. The best way to determine how long your braided rug will last is to check the amount of wool fibre used, although today's poly/olefin fibres are famously durable as well.
